QR Codes
What is a QR Code?
Similar to a barcode in that it holds information, however a QR Code (Quick Response) can hold information like a URL, Text, GEO Coordinates, Ph Number, SMS etc). A QR Code in a library can be used to provide a link to a URL eg a Book Review or even a direct link to the item in Oliver.

One idea would be to print and place on your new book display where your Staff and Students could come along, scan the QR Code using their iPhone and now access more information regarding that book.

These codes are now being used everywhere, so keep your eye open for them eg flyers, magazines or they can be added to a business card which when scanned by your iPhone will take you to the organisation’s website, or the contact details which can then be added straight to your phone’s contacts.

So QR Codes can bring paper alive by providing a digital link!

To get started, first of all download a QR Reader from iTunes Store, there a quite a few, just use a free one...
